The unexpected speed, scale and prolonged duration of the COVID-19 disruption crisis has prompted new discussions for how we plan, build and run our cities. This commentary reflects – from a built environment and infrastructure perspective – on how the public sector, private sector and communities need to adapt and work together in responding to the pandemic. Weaving together the experiences, insights and ideas of key leaders and urban systems practitioners in Singapore, it aims to posit ideas and spark new conversations on how cities may need to evolve, so that they continue to be liveable, sustainable and resilient to future shocks and stressors.
